Siberuit Tattoo

Siberut continues my exploration of 3D-printed sculpture and surface mapping, extending the dialogue first opened with Jeri (Color-Printed Edition). The figure was originally modeled with the beginnings of Mentawai tribal tattoos—markings rooted in the cultural traditions of Indonesia’s Siberut Island.

Onto this form I layered graffiti gathered from across Indonesia, digitally mapped to the surface. The fusion of tribal patterning and contemporary street mark-making creates a charged tension between past and present, heritage and disruption. In Siberut, body and environment merge, becoming a vessel for both continuity and change.
