Cape Buffalo

The Cape Buffalo was sculpted in Kenya, born of both personal encounter and symbolic weight. Among Africa’s “big five,” the buffalo appears placid in herds yet is notorious as the most dangerous when alone—unpredictable, quick, and formidable.

For me, the work carries particular resonance: friends have felt its impact, and I once witnessed a charge that narrowly missed my father. In bronze, the sculpture embodies this duality—innocence and menace, stillness and explosive force—echoing both the reverence and fear the animal commands.
